Kohelet Mussar, the Hebrew periodical founded by Moses Mendelssohn, was the first of its kind in several respects. It was the first literary product of the Jewish Enlightenment, the first periodical to appear in Hebrew, and the only Hebrew representative of the widespread and very influential eighteenth-century European literary-journalistic genre known as the 'moral weekly'.
