Evil and the Unconscious

Inspired by emerging new interpretations of Sigmund Freud, Lowe explores the ways in which psychoanalysis addresses the problems of evil and suffering. In particular, Loew argues that the psychoanalytic perspective illuminates the extent to which the human condition is marked by tragic conflict and self-delusion, as well as clarifies the limits of the unreflective optimism of the human potential movement.
