Applications of Fiber Optic Sensors in Engineering Mechanics

Recent advances in fiber optic technology and the possibility of its use in civil structures has instigated the development of a number of research activities in the civil engineering community. Fiber optic sensors, and smart structure technology have been successfully employed in space and aeronautics applications.
