Adding a fair share of romance to the series, Mare surprisingly develops romantic feelings for prince Cal Calore who is one of the Silver elites. In the second book Glass Sword, Mare discovers she is not the only one of her kind with magical powers and goes on to recruit other beings in the struggle against her Silver oppressors. When we get to the third novel, King’s Cage, we find Mare powerless, captured and imprisoned questioning her choices, and in the fourth installment, War Storm, we get to explore some of the internal battles between the main characters as the series comes to an epic conclusion. Threading between dark fantasy filled with magic and endless twists and turns and a gripping love story, the Red Queen book series makes for an entertaining read and a Red Queen TV adaptation is in the works.
