Laurence Yep

<p>Laurence Yep is a prolific Chinese-American author of children's books. He is best known for the 10-book Golden Mountain Chronicles; <i>Dragonwings</i> and <i>Dragon's Gate</i> were both Newbery Honor books. In 2005 the American Librarian Association awarded Yep the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal, notably for <i>Dragonwings</i>, <i>The Rainbow People</i>, <i>The Khan's Daughter</i>, and the autobiographical <i>The Lost Garden</i>. Yep's books are often influenced by Chinese mythology and touch upon the dilemma of the cultural outsider.</p>
